What I need:
I am trying to learn how to do more gothic looking photography. I'm noticing that it's harder than it looks to make black on black details stand out, and I just havent' been able to get things to look the way I want them to. I need to experiment a lot, but most of the people I've been taking pictures of are too far away, and the rest are too busy. I need a few patient models willing to take the time to let me do the trial and error thing until I figure it out. What you get:You keep the rights to all of the pictures. I'm hoping to take a LOT, and some of them will probably be really good. I may ask to use one or two exceptional ones in my portfolio, but that's up to you. Once I see how they look, I'll have gotten what I want out of them. The pictures will all be digital (6 Megapixel Nikon D100), so if you want prints, you'll have to get those done elsewhere at your expense. I'll give you the pictures on CD's, and don't care if I provide the CD's or you do. I don't need you to sign any model release papers, and you can use the pictures for commercial purposes if you'd like - although I may do some bad voodoo on you if you credit anyone else with the photos. Ideally, I'd like to find people who will get some kind of education out of this too. I Am:I'm not a professional photographer, but I'm thinking about it. You can see some stuff that I've done on this page - but that's not the kind of stuff I want to do. I also have much better equipment now so the pictures should be quite a bit cleaner. I work normal 9-5 hours, so am only free evenings and weekends. I am looking to educate myself, and am not looking for a girlfriend or any kind of victim. You are:Above all, you are patient and you are looking to have fun with this. These shoots are going to take longer than they should, and if you're going to get all huffy when I go to adjust the camera after each shot, we are not going to enjoy working together at all. Here's my other requirements:
Because of what I'm doing #1 and #2 are required. I realize #3 is subjective - I won't be able to make you look good if I don't find you at least attractive at some angles. You may be able to substitute "interesting" for "attractive" if you're interesting looking enough. #4 is just a preference - black hair might be ok if it's interesting, but I think it would be easier to get the looks I'm going for with other colors. I am hoping to find about 3 people who want to do this on a semi-regular basis for a little while. What we'll do:I don't have any locations in mind. I don't have access to any photogenic indoor space, if you do that would be great. Otherwise, I'm assuming we'll pick someplace outside with interesting backgrounds and do it there. Hopefully we'll get some nice days here pretty soon. Please bring a friend, at least the first time, if it will make you feel more comfortable. Please don't bring a friend that will be jealous for no reason, in a hurry to be somewhere else, or trying to tell me how to do stuff without me asking for their help. I'd like to get some coffee or food before the first shoot so we can talk a bit so we're comfortable by the time we're trying to make pictures. What to do now:If you're interested, please email me a little bit about yourself. A short note is fine - stats would be nice. Please also include a recent head shot and full body shot, or a link to a site with pictures of you. (If the site has pictures of other people, don't forget to tell me which is you. Please also include a brief summary of your schedule. If you're not a spam-bot, the part before the @ sign is devin - and the part after the @ sign is vibechild.com |
